1. A TRAVELLER'S TALE
It happened many years ago. I was in India. I was
hunting there. Once I spent the whole
day in the jungle. It had got completely dark when I
decided to return to my camp. I was
walking along a narrow path. Strange sounds were heard
everywhere. On my right there
was a river and on my left there was a thick tropical
forest.
Suddenly I saw something terrible in the jungle on my
left. Two green eyes were
looking at me. It was a man-eating tiger, ready to
spring on me.
I knew that if I started to ran the tiger would catch
me easily. As I could swim well I
made щ my mind to
escape that way. I looked at the river on my right. There in the
river was a huge crocodile. It was waiting for me with
open jaws.
I fainted. A moment later I jumped to my feet again.
What do you think I saw? The tiger
was in the jaws of the crocodile.
Five years have passed since that time but I still
remember every moment of that terrible
night.
